iPhone Duo: Apple’s first foldable

2 days ago0 views

Apple waited years to make a foldable, then shipped one with a clear idea: a small phone outside and a small tablet inside, at a price that asks you to really want both.

Verdict

A confident first foldable that earns its place only if you truly want a small phone and a small tablet in one device, and can afford to pay for both.

iPhone 18 Pro: a camera that finally moves

3 days ago1 view

A familiar design hides the first variable aperture on an iPhone, a much bigger battery in the Max, and a chip built on a 2nm process. It is a modest year, and a very good phone.

Verdict

A modest year with two real upgrades: the first variable aperture on an iPhone and much better battery life. Easy to recommend from an iPhone 16 or older, and easy to skip from a 17 Pro.

iOS 27: the year Siri grew up

4 days ago0 views

iOS 27 rests on one big promise, a Siri that is finally useful. It largely delivers, with limits on who can use it and where. The quieter improvements may matter more to everyone else.

Verdict

The most useful Siri yet, for those whose phone and region can run it, on top of a solid set of everyday improvements. Worth installing on any supported iPhone.

PS5 Slim · Smaller console, familiar appeal

2 months ago6 views

The PS5 Slim is the same console in a smaller body, with more storage. That makes it a good way into PlayStation, and a weak reason to replace the PS5 you already own.

Verdict

The best way to buy into the PS5 if you don’t have one. If you already do, a smaller case and a little more storage are not reasons to upgrade.

GTA V · A city that steals the show

2 months ago1 view

More than a decade on, Grand Theft Auto V’s open world is still its best argument. Just know which version you are buying, and why.

Verdict

Still a great open-world game with a strong sense of place. The newer console version is the best way to play on console, but it is an upgrade rather than a new game.

iPhone 16 Pro · The camera makes the case

2 months ago0 views

Two generations on, the iPhone 16 Pro is still a very capable small phone. Whether it is worth buying now depends on the price and on how much you use the camera.

Verdict

Still an excellent small Pro phone for people who use the 5x camera and video features. At a good used or refurbished price it makes sense; otherwise most people can spend less.
